Game Changer!

20,000 Steps by Charity Grant
Charity Grant has written a mind-bogglingly simple guide which will change the way you look at walking and step counters. Apparently the Fitbit frenzy bypassed me. According to this well researched guide, the average person should log in a minimum of 10, 000 or more steps a day, but for weight loss they should increase this total to 20,000 steps. Trust me, I was far below average, but I knew I had to make some serious changes. After a recent, unexpected death in my family, I made a conscious decision to try to live healthier. For far too many years I used my age, fatigue and ailments as an excuse and a pass to be lazy, avoiding exercise like the Ebola virus. I happened across an ad for Fitbit… I ignored it. A few hours later I saw a link to this book and I could not ignore the coincidence. So, I read the book. It was a game changer for me. I loved the easy flow, conversation style writing technique of the book. I also liked the research studies and science the author cited to back-up her 20 step program to log in 20,000 steps per day. This book made me stop looking at walking as exercise. No more excuses for me… I’m getting a step counter. This was a great KU read!

Getting your steps in!

I admit - I don't fit time in for exercise. It's hard going to the gym when you have a 3-year-old. Well, at least, that's my excuse. But, I can do steps, right? I never thought about how many steps a day I take, until I started reading this book. This book provides easy changes to add steps to your day. While 10,000 steps a day are recommended, weight loss gurus recommend at least 20,000 steps to help you shed the pounds. This well-researched book gave me a lot to think about. It also gave some practical ways to get the steps in like circling the kitchen (why not walk around while waiting for dinner to get out of the microwave or oven?). There's a bunch of other great ideas to get the steps in, like walking through your favorite sitcom, parking further away, doing charity walks, etc. This book already has me searching for a good step-counter. I really enjoyed the author's writing style. Not only was it informative but an enjoyable read!

Reach the 20K goal and beyond, nice tips!

There were a ton of great tips in this book. I knew there had to be a way to hit 20,000 steps each day, but this book showed me that not only was it possible, but also how a few changes and additional things added to your daily routine can really add on the steps, and a few of the tips were things I didn't really even think about. And also one more thing... Besides this book giving a load of tips that will surely get you to 20,000 steps and beyond, some of these tips also bring more peace to your life. Like when you finally drill into your head that parking further away from your destination no matter where you are will add the extra steps, it allows you to not even worry about getting "the best/closest spot you can" all the time. You can be at peace and pull into any spot, even the first one you see, because it doesn't matter how far away you are. In fact, it only helps you reach your goal faster.
